Dr Hagen has been a licensed chiropractor for 25 years. He is a 1993 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He practiced in Bettendorf, Iowa for 15 years and 10 years now in Alabama. Dr. Hagen had an interest in Atlas adjusting, and proceeded to learn under Dr. Roy W. Sweat, the developer of the Atlas Orthogonal Procedure, and through post graduate studies achieved his Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal certification. Dr Hagen is an Atlas Orthogonal instructor teaching at Palmer College of Chiropractic to students and doctors. He is a past Board Member of the Roy W Sweat Research Foundation and has received their Atlas Orthogonal Humanitarian Award.

Dr. Hagen is currently one of four chiropractors who specialize in this procedure in the state of Alabama. “What initially grabbed my interest in Atlas Orthogonal was the scientific evaluation and precise correction of the Atlas vertebra using a percussional force instrument adjustment. The adjustment you virtually do not feel take place. Seeing the positive response from my patients with improved health and achieving a better quality of life is what I enjoy.”

A brief family history of atlas adjusting:

● In the 1950s, Dr. Hagen’s father, Dr. Vern Hagen, was originally taught to adjust the atlas by hand under Dr. BJ Palmer using the HIO technique

● During the 1960s, Dr. Roy W. Sweat taught Dr. Vern to adjust the atlas by hand using the Grostic technique

● After referring his daughter-in-law to Dr. Sweat (1980’s) to help alleviate her migraines, Dr. Vern learned that Dr. Sweat had developed the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) technique that uses an Atlas Orthogonal Percussion Adjusting Instrument to align the atlas. Drs. Vern and Trent Hagen (Dr. Troy's brother) traveled to Atlanta to learn the AO procedure from Dr. Sweat and incorporated it in their practices

● Dr Troy Hagen began training under Dr Sweat in 1993

In addition to the AO Technique, Dr. Hagen treats his patients with a variety of low-force chiropractic techniques including:
  • Activator Methodtroy ao setup
  • Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT)
  • Erchonia Cold Laser Therapy
