A brief family history of atlas adjusting

● In the 1950s, Dr. Hagen’s father, Dr. Vern Hagen, was originally taught to adjust the atlas by hand under Dr. BJ Palmer using the HIO technique.

● During the 1960s, Dr. Roy W. Sweat taught Dr. Vern to adjust the atlas by hand using the Grostic technique

● After referring his daughter-in-law to Dr. Sweat (1980’s) to help alleviate her migraines, Dr. Vern learned that Dr. Sweat had developed the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) technique that uses an Atlas Orthogonal Percussion Adjusting Instrument to align the atlas. Drs. Vern and Trent Hagen traveled to Atlanta to learn the AO procedure from Dr. Sweat and incorporated it in their practices

● Dr Troy Hagen began training under Dr Sweat in 1993.
